October is just around the corner, which means mustache madness, candy corn and impending holiday music 24/7. I’m especially excited this year because Pete and I are hosting our very first Thanksgiving together, which means this will be the first time when the majority of guests will have no desire to watch football. Ever since Hurricane Irene rained on our parade, we had to cancel our BBQ, so my family will be making the trek from NYC and Delaware to indulge in turkey goodness. Luckily for me, Pete has experience cooking a turkey, but the most I’ve ever helped with Thanksgiving meals in the past has been microwaving mashed potatoes. So, needless to say, I am ready to solicit some advice from pumpkin pie-baking veterans.
The idea of mini white pumpkins scattered on a mantle makes me anxious to go pumpkin picking—I always like cutting out the centers to make them votive candleholders to bring a warm glow to the room.
Anywho, I’ve been browsing Foodgawker and Pinterest to collect autumn decor and festive recipe inspiration, but I was wondering what some of your favorites are?
Love the photos you’ve chosen especially the lighted pumpkins on the tree trunk and the white pumpkins.
Discuss the turkey preparations with Stacey. Between the three of you, I’m sure it will be amazing.

OMG, I’m in the same boat bc we finally have a place big enough to decorate, and where people might see it! I’m so pumped. I’ve been scouring pinterest too, mostly for halloween ideas. I came across a good idea for pumpkins though…put some fun stockings around them, ie fishnets, lace etc. Super easy way to get a lot of texture.
I’ve also been finding a lot of cool wreath ideas…we should have a wreath-making party! I’m working on a ghost one now…

I’m sure you’ll do great but you know I’m happy to come early and help with the cooking if you want… either way just remember to make sure the inside cavity is empty before you cook the Turkey. Big Brother and I forgot that part when we made our 1st turkey… it wasn’t pretty or very edible.

Aw, yay! We used several of those same images as inspiration for our Halloween photoshoot for my retail company’s window signage! It’s happily printing away back at the office right now. 🙂 I got to take the leftover gourds home and I’ve been eating way too much candy at work, so it’s a win-win-win, really.

For pumpkin pie, just follow the directions on the Libby’s can. Don’t mess with perfection. And buy pie crust covers so you don’t have to attempt to cover them with foil.
