Roundup: Currently Obsessed

Starting this May, I will be sharing my monthly current obsessions with all of you. This will be my way of documenting things that make my heart skip a beat, but are too random for my Tumblr, which is mostly devoted to cute photos of animals if we’re being honest.

Pete and I just went through the entire Parks and Recreation series in a little over a week (thanks to Netflix) and we can’t get enough of it. For some reason I dismissed the show as being too similar to The Office when I saw the original pilot, so I never took interest in it. A few weeks ago we decided to watch it to see what all of the fuss was about, and it just so happened that we stumbled upon one of the funniest moments of the entire series to date. Tom Haverford, played by Aziz Ansari is explaining slang words for some of his favorite foods. The clip has led to the development of this website, which has been making me giggle uncontrollably all month so far.

So I’m not particularly sure of the logistics of hanging a hammock indoors, but ever since I saw this lounger on Anthropologie’s website, I’ve been smitten. It would look especially lovely in our soon-to-be home’s sunroom with the faded blue floors. I’m crossing my fingers that they have this sucker in-store so I can take advantage of my 15% birthday month discount.

I’ve been scouring Craigslist on a daily basis trying to find a card catalog to fix up and call my own. How gorgeous is the card catalog remodel above by the duo at Dream Book Design? My inner librarian wants a place to store her Post-Its and paperclips like you wouldn’t believe.

Remember those geographical classroom maps in elementary school that would always fly up because the teacher couldn’t properly pull it down, even after all those years of practice? I totally want one. I may or may not search Ebay every day for the perfect school map in my price range. I wish I could say the rabbit chart above was affordable, but it is well over $100, so I shall keep looking for something equally as charming under $50.

What are some of your current obsessions?

  2. My current obsession is looking for vintage housewares/furniture on etsy and then being disappointed when I realize it’s too expensive/impossible to ship! Ha ha ha.

I found a great card catalog at this flea market in Saylorsburg a few years ago, and Daryl was like ‘wtf would you need that for?’ and I was like ‘uhhh, I could organize the SHIT out of everything!’ Alas, it was out of my price range at the time and I had no where to put it. Y’all should come up some weekend to check out the Saylorsburg flea market, it’s pretty darn sweet!
